Overview:

Tribal Wars 2 is not only a free-to-play browser game but the sequel to the classic Tribal Wars — the first work of the German InnoGames studio and a huge hit. Tribal Wars 2 is a medieval Massive Multiplayer Online (MMO) war game with a focus on battle strategy and castle management. The online strategy game is free and available directly in a web browser and a mobile app which expands the real-time PvP environment to smartphones and tablets.

Tribal Wars 2 is set in a very atmospheric medieval universe of colossal castles, brave knights, adventurous generals, and strategic political decisions. You are about to take over the role of a castle ruler in a war-torn landscape and must defend and expand your domain to ensure its survival. In this medieval war game, your peoples depend on your military power and strategic wisdom. Starting out with a small village, you need to figure out how to build it up into a rich and strong castle, fortified by impregnable city walls and full of resources and crafts. Rally your armies, fortify your castle walls and lead your patrials to glory!

Deepdive

Based on the classic Tribal Wars, the brand new browser game delights with striking graphics and interface improvements. In addition to that, Tribal Wars 2 features a large strategic map, exploring of which earns you distinct boosts in resource production. You can now follow your army movements on the map in real-time as well. No matter if you are just getting to know the Tribal Wars franchize for the first time, or if you are a veteran of good old Tribal Wars, you will surely have a joyful and addictive experience!

The goal of this strategy city building game revolves around managing and developing your castle, upgrading your buildings, and expanding your realm in a PvP environment. But Tribal Wars 2 is so much more than just a simple strategy city building game – you also have to assemble an army by recruiting and training soldiers. Attacking other players and looting their resources will fuel both your progress and castle growth as the free city building game unfolds. Although military strength is a basic importance, forging political alliances and pacts to fight side by side with other players is also important.

Joining the Tribal Wars 2 battles is simple and easy: a quick registration on the website and your game is up and running right inside your browser window. Once inside, a clear and friendly tutorial will guide you through the basics and explain the game features and mechanics. Traditionally, first things you will get to do within a tutorial is build up your castle’s resource production, recruit warriors and launch a trial attack at surrounding villages. The guide walks you through the basics of building and resource production, essentially constructing various resource production buildings to gather materials for more buildings and weaponry. By the way, even when tutorial is way over, at any given moment in the game the players still have some level of guidance with the  so-called Quests. Those are various specific tasks to complete like constructing or upgrading a specific building, training needed units and using them to attack Barbarians, which gives a gentle hand holding for new players that aren’t sure what to do next or how to better go about needed action. Quests may guide you towards progression, though you may ignore it and employ your own exploration strategy instead.

Naturally, every building costs a different amount and variety of resources to construct. Each type of building also serves some specific need and solves a different problem. One building can be used for housing of your inhabitants, another one will produce the needed crafts and tools, third will become a training base for your soldiers and guards.

Amount of time needed for construction also depends on the type and level of building and takes anything from minutes to hours.

However, you have an option to rush production and instantly complete a build by spending the premium Crowns currency.  Each player is credited with some dose of those from the beginning to get you going, but after it is spent, the only way to top it up would be spending the real money in a built-in Cash Shop. Same goes for compressing time of the attacks, speeding up the learning curve or unlocking premium ammunition and buildings whenever you wish. Nothing special in this regard, if you have a played any browser strategy game you must be totally familiar with the concept. The game is free so the developers need to make some money anyhow. Obviously, spending real money gives you an advantage, but if you have time and patience to achieve everything on you own step-by-step without spending a penny – you’re welcome.

There is a number of Achievements available for players to earn, everything from combat achievements, building achievements and generally exploring and taking advantage of the other features as much as possible and being rewarded for it. You will even get rewards for just being around and playing on a regular basis.

Players are able to attack the computer-operated Barbarian villages or compete with each other in a multiplayer mode by attacking each other’s fortresses. A unique touch here is that players are offered with some defense where they are unable to be attacked by other players. All new players of Tribal Wars 2 get 5 days of this special protection system as an immunity for free, but after may extend this perk in exchange for game currency.

Sometimes your own troops won’t be enough to really succeed  and dominate in multiplayer PvP battles. Being a strategy game like Tribal Wars 2 it’s meant to be this way. The reason is you are expected to create alliances, or rather Tribes,  with other players. With the help of so-called tribes your chances to defeat your opponents seriously increase and can put you in a position to compete against other Tribes for position on the leaderboard.

Your political decisions could mean the difference between triumph and defeat in the world of Tribal Wars 2!
